CHAMPAGNE LAWN CANOPIES,
YORK RACECOURSE

The wonderful scheme to redevelop the Northern End which was designed by Phelan Architects around ten years ago featured a number of parasols on the Champagne Lawn to provide racegoers with cover from the Yorkshire Weather.
Our project to replace these parasols uses the latest in ETFE technology with a light touch that provides protection from the sun (or rain) whilst maintaining the feeling of openness and light which racegoers associate with York, a summer racecourse.
The section of the new structures was designed to ensure that the tiered views from the Champagne Terrace, Bar and Lawn towards the Parade Ring are unobstructed.
